Calm tokay

violator Sep 23, 2004 11:09 PM

Just thought i would say i have read alot of posts and web pages about tokays being mean. Well my tokay which i have had for about 2 month and he is about 4 months old, i think, is pretty tame. Given he wont let me pick him up but he isnt afraid of me at all. I can stick my hand in, and pet him and touch almost any part of him, but his head directly. Some times he will move and bark at me with his mouth open but he dont do it much any more. I like to get him to move to bottom of the tank when i feed him so i can watch him eat but now its hard to get him to move as he dont fear me and dont care if i touch him. Lol it sorta sucks now. But either way I thought i would share my story with you up to this point.

This is my favorite Tokay of all time - Anise. She really likes to be held. It took awhile to tame her, but I took it slow and on her terms. I'm working on taming 4 others (with varying stages of success) but Anise is definitely the sweetest Tokay you will ever meet!

Good luck with your Tokay!

So did you start to handle your tokays right away or how did you work with them to handle them in your hand?
i can pet mine and touch him all over but i cant handle him, such and pick him up in my hand.
