Pictures of Lenore

nevermore Sep 23, 2004 11:43 PM

OK...I finally have some pictures of my young eastern indigo girl, Lenore (handsome little Solomon's sister). A friend of mine came over and helped me take some pictures (on a digital camera I'm still figuring out). She, my friend, isn't exactly terrififed of snakes...but didn't like them all that much...untill now that is. After shooting the pictures she turned to me and said, "I never thought I'd find a snake so cute." I had planned on using Lenore, when she is bigger, in some educational programs and the like...and she's already won somebody over! That's one human heart (and 22 mouslings) on her score card.

Anyway, here are a few of the pictures (does anybody know how to pust more than one per post?). They are not of terribly good quallity and the flash messed up her colors a bit. In some of the pictures she looks sort of brown where she is really a much deeper, darker, blue-er color. Oh well. They will do for now (untill I go home for winter break and get a hold of my real photo equipment).

One female Eastern Indigo. That's right, just one snake. But she's my dream-snake, so back off man.

Here Lenore retreats into the folds of my robe...which she already is starting to associate as a safe place.

At first she was camera shy...but then Lenore jutted her head out towards it, curiously, not retreating, not going forward. Had I not known, better, I'd say she liked it. Of course, half way in to things, I found out that my friend taking the pictures (who is a biology student and works at a lab) had been handling rats all day. To be on the safe side...she did not handle Lenore.

And here is the adorable face that won over my snake fearing friend.
