Here is another midland eating a pinky. This one is about 9" long though.I could not resist posting it because this is my first one to actually eat a pinky. I'm going to try to keep this one on the mice. I might just keep all on mice if I can get them all on them.

last one. I 'll try to hold back on the pics from now on.

No need to hold back on the pics! I enjoyed them. Getting your snake to eat mice is nice -- no more stinky fish to deal with. I have had some Gulf Salt Marsh Watersnakes on mice for over 6 months now. A word of caution, go easy on the mouse diets as your snake can quickly become obese.

I don't think I will get the other one on mice. It is one of hose realy nervous ones that are even hard to get to eat fish. I'll try a little more but will probably just keep it on fish with a suppliment ever few feddings(5). Today is its feeding day so you'll se another pic since you like them.

Great job! Congratulations. Nerodia on mice will have a lot fewer, less watery and less bad smelling feces. Where are you located, what state?

Did you say you had yellow bellied water snakes there?

I'm inn north west Albama. Yes there are yellow bellied waters here. Not very common but they are here. back a year ago ( when I was dumber than I am now) I used to keep a minnow basket out to catch them, and I went ot check it and there was a large yellow bellied water in the with just a feww inches in the basket and a few feet out. It was deaad, I'm still mad at my self for that. That is the only one I've ever seen here. Oh and it was gravid as curiosity came over me and I cut it open to find a leopard frog and 37 baies 9"' long each. It seems like I have poste abput this big water, just a few weeks ago.
