Hey everyone!
I am pretty new to boas (snakes in general) but am absolutely captivated by them. It all started with a baby cornsnake (snow) that I adopted from a pet store (they did not sell reptiles and someone just left the snake there in a tupperware container).
Anyways, I am especially fond of the Hog Island Boas and the Kenyan Sand Boas. I just purchased a baby KSB (anery) and would like to get a Hog in the next few months. I have been doing some research and there are many sites that warn potential owners to research the "purity" of a breeder's Hogs before buying. Can anyone suggest a reputable breeder who sells nice-looking Hogs? I am not looking to breed any of my snakes since I am in law school and do not want more than 5-6 pets total (I have 2 leopard geckos that I have had since I was 9!). Also, are there any good care sheets for Hogs on the web? And lastly, which sex is naturally smaller? I prefer that my snake not grow over 6 feet!
Thanks for responding and I will post pics of "Ninja" the KSB soon.
Thanks!
SF

Welcome aboard!

Here are 2 sites that have substantial information you are looking for.

This one is for Gus, whom specializes in pure Locality Boa Constrictors, such as the Hog island Boa. It has lots of pics, care sheets and more.
www.RioBravoReptiles.com

Here is another for Jeff Ronne, pretty much the premier breeder of Quality Colombian Boas as well as superior Caging and supplies made with the Boa in mind. There are also videos, aricles, pics, caresheets, and a ThinkTank Forum where many members actively discuss all aspects of Boas and Husbandry.

These sites and forums will become your new home.

Take care, Joe Rollo - BciJoe

The second site was left out of the previous post. I think he meant to put www.theboaphile.com

Do yourself a big favor and check out the boa classifieds and the breeders section......you will find tons of good animals. Let your fingers do the walking.
