Great story. That little guy is awfully cute!
How much will you sell the babys for? (if at all) BTW, how do you feed your HL's twice a day? Will you leave an abundance of ants in there housing if you know you can't be home to feed them?
Good luck with them. You've got your hands full!

Hi Ryan,
I can't sell these in Arizona under current G&F regulations. They will be distributed according to their desires. I have to contact them and see just what that is going to amount to. I have a year I believe until I have to have them gone.
In feeding, I am lucky enough to have a wife that will help me out and throw some ants out a few times a day while I am at work.
I have developed a little jar technique where I cut a small hole in the lid and let them trickle out slowly over an hour or so. The Solare adults are such pigs they will easily eat 300 or more in just a short span so I don't really have to worry about too many in the cage, within reason. I have also been using a new trick at sunset. I have a 160 watt PowerSun bulb that I turn on at sunset and let them feed on moths, winged ants and other goodies that come. Several of my Texas HL's, my Platyrhinos and the Solare all enjoy the smorgasbord of insects. They are getting quite used to this feeding and I think it adds a good variety of wild insects to their diet, all for the cost of some power.
Do you currently keep horned lizards?
Cheers!

As of right now I dont keep horned lizards. I had 3 w/c babies that I let go as I found out that they were Phrynosoma coronatum (coast HL's). During the summer I regularly rescue them from local washes where they fall into and cant get out. I just bought a new house with a good sized back yard and I am planning on building an outdoor inclosure for HL's. Just got to figure out what species to get.
I am especially drawn to Regal's and Short horned, but I'll make my descision when the time comes.
Hope all goes well with the rest of your clutch! Keep us posted on new hatchlings!
