Mold growing in tank

callista83 Sep 24, 2004 06:18 PM

My boyfriend has a 150 gallon tank with 6 American Toads and 2 frogs of some kind in it. The frogs will be released shortly.

His mom, trying to be helpful, put some bread in the tank thinking they had no food and were hungry. I guess some of the toads ate some of it but the rest was left there. We thought nothing of it but after a couple days, the bread had turned into mold and now there is mold in the tank. We got rid of the pieces we could but there is still some small bits around.

Cleaning out the whole tank would be extremely hard, do you have any suggestions? What will the mold do to the toads? Will it kill them?

Hmm mold isn't good. What is your substrate? Plain old dirt isnt good. UV/full spectrum lights also help( they kill fungus and stuff like that)
