URGENT need advice

Source Sep 24, 2004 06:54 PM

Ok, so a friend of mine has a bearded dragon about 3 years old.

The dragon is only eating crickets and wax worms. My friend cannot get the dragon to eat her endive or turnip greens. Does anybody have any advice on what to do to stimulate the dragon's appetite?

My friend put in a rock for the dragon to climb up on to get closer to the heat lamp. Temps are correct basking temp is 120 and cool end of cage is in the 88-95 range.

Any help would be greatfully appreciated

Those temps are too high! Basking should be reduced by at least ten and the cool end should be more around 80 to 84. That may help some. Parazap, acidopholis, and several b vitamin supplements also helps stimulate appetite. You may also want to consider a fecal exam. Hope this helps.

Good Luck!

Thanks I'll tell my friend what needs to be done. We took out the temperature guage to test it about an hour ago. Turns out the guage is off by about 15 degrees so that means the heat end is 105 and the cool end is 73-80.

I'll go shopping for the suppliments and stimulates tomorrow and give them to my friend. Hopefully the bearded will start eating again.
