Finally got me a Corn...

HerperHelmz Sep 24, 2004 07:34 PM

Well, I'm a ringneck snake person, and for once instead of using a corn snake as feeder food, I am keeping one for my personal collection. I got it from Buddy Grout, it looks pretty normal, typical Florida corn snake I assume. CB04, born about maybe 2 weeks ago. It's about 10 inches long.

It was pretty tame considering the fact it was bounced around in a box for a little while, only rattled it's tail at me a few times. I held it for a bit, didn't mind much it seemed, although it snapped at me a few times.

I have it set up in a little plastic tank, with napkins as the substrate, a cave hide in, a rock on top of that, some moss, and a water bowl. I'm not sure if it has eaten yet, but how long should I wait before offering it food?

Also, what else will a corn snake eat other than rodents?

Michael,
Give the little guy a few days to settle in before trying to feed it.
Feed it mice. In this case, pinkies.
They can and will eat lizards but you don't really want to make lizards their staple diet. It can get a lot more expensive and hard to get food at certain times of the year.
It is best to only use lizards to get problem feeders or non-feeders to eat.
