This is Batgirl. She's a certified therapy dog and the household princess. UKC GR Ch Top 10 twice. She wouldn't even wake up to fend off a burglar.

This is my big eared Remedy. UKC National CH last year. We have 8 dogs...none of whom are worth a crap as far as protection so we had to get the house, snake rooms and dog building alarmed. hehehe I guess they figure show dogs don't have to be good protection...they just have to be pretty.

Kevin,

I think I've seen a couple of your dogs in BLOODLINES, right? Gorgeous terriers, all of them. Do you do any weight pulling with any of them?

Thanks for the compliments guys. And yes, our kids have been in Bloodlines a few times.

Charlotte and I looked quite hard at weight pull over the past few years. It's another avenue towards having "total" dogs rather than simple conformation Grand Champions, which are kind of like glass hammers, pretty to look at, but not very practical.

After a bit of investigation, we realised that the training we would need to do for weight pull would be very inconsistent due to our weather. These guys simply can't be expected to pull 800-1200# in 95 degree days with 95% humidity, which is most of our year. And after our move, the nearest indoor facility is about 60 miles.

So we have elected to work them through Obediance training and have continued with the therapy aspect. Kind of breathtaking watching a "viscious pitbull" enthrall an entire nursing home and especially so in the Alzheimers wards. Now if we could just get them to behave like that on our yard. LOL.

Thanks again and we're battening down the hatches. It's about 55 mph right now and deteriorating rapidly

Hope you guys don't suffer too much through the storm!

I love versatility in a dog, regardless of breed. Kudos for the Therapy work, as well. Did you meet with any resistance at first, when people realized your dog was a "pit bull" ?

I'm a Rottie girl, myself, and run into alot of the same misconceptions. Both breeds, I have found, are mostly big marshmallows, except when rubbed the wrong way, so to speak!

Best of luck!

Here's my little Badger. It's a good thing she's not the size of a rotti, otherwise she'd be quite a handfull. She's a 4 year old Jack Russell Terrier, 16lbs of muscle

Cheers

I'm sorry, I thought we were posting pictures of dogs that would be considered as deterents.

This is NOT an American Pit Bull...it's a Belgian Malinois. Mals are used for Military Working dogs and police dogs around the world and are treasured as working dogs. Atra, in this picture is learning a bark and hold as part of her training to be a police dog.

I'm not sure what problem training Police K9s is, but I can think of a few solutions they offer.
