Another question (about drinking)

LordOfTheLizards Sep 25, 2004 12:19 PM

i know that beardies like moving water (mist bottle) and i know they rarely drink from standing water

so what if u installed a drip system (like they use for chams) right over a water bowl?

u would still mist but wouldn't a barded dragon notice the falling water? and the little splashes would cause the water in the bowl to move also wouldn't it?

thanx

i wouldnt worry about it. beardies get most of their water from their food. just keep misting them and giving them baths about 2-3 times a week. they're desert animals and dont require much water.

A drip system or misting system isn't good for dragons at all. The only time you really have to worry about misting a dragon is when it's young. Baby dragons can dehydrate fast but once they are 6 months old or older, they should be getting all their moisture from their food (greens, insects etc.) You can give them soaks when they look sort of wrinkly or haven't pooed in awhile (several days to a week).

the only time you mmay have to provide much more water is if the dragon's primary source of food includes pellets and that dragon dust powder.

this is a pretty well known method of convincing baby dragons to drink. so yes it should work.

Both my adult beardies drink readily from standing water without a problem. I misted my babies when i had them, but even then they would still drink from a shallow water dish so i wouldnt worry about it too much. Also, you can rinse their veggies in water before feeding them to them to provide some extra water
