Picked up a new monitor at the airport yesterday...

The guy at Delta cargo even recognized it as a
monitor, though he didn't know what kind. He's
a cute little baby melinus.
Thanks for looking

Seriously, that is nice.
I wish I had the time and space to get into some monitors.
That one is at the top of my list.
Very nice.

I have kept this monitor for several years. Adults but I just got a baby as well. I use Cypress Mulch but then I NEVER SEE HIM!!!!!
They burrow and burrow!!! Forget the word tree monitor as they are the farthest from it.
Do you have a set up for him yet?>
I would be interested in seeing a pic or description

She's in her new home now(I hope it's a she). The tub she's
inside in the photo was just for soaking after the plane ride.
Her cage is a 45 gallon Sterilite tub. I use several inches of
aspen bedding with some cypress on top. The furnishings
include a large water dish that the monitor can completely
submerge itself in. I prefer basking temps around 120F for
most Indonesian species.

It's kind of annoying that some dealers still refer to them as
tree monitors. I think that's rather misleading as they are
obviously not part of the prasinus complex. They seem very
similar to indicus.

I also have a young adult male melinus. He's in a 6'x2'x2' stock
tank. They sure do love to burrow around in their substrate
They're usually only out for a few hours a day.

Thanks for your comments. I'll try to post some enclosure pics
tomorrow.

Here's a pic of the young adult males home.
It's a 6'x2'x2' stock tank with an oak top.
Thanks for looking.
