guidance needed with boa morph project...

carl3 Sep 25, 2004 06:49 PM

I have been into locale boas for awhile but now I want to start a boa morph project and was curious if anyone could offer any advice or tips. I browse the classifieds daily and have a good handle on what's fair market price for anerys and het albinos but I'm a little confused with hypos. Are there any websites that explain all the different boa morphs and bloodlines?

all Colombian Hypo boas are Co-dominant. What other questions did you have about the Hypo gene?

Thanks Kenneth....that is EXACTLY what I was searching for...that website really lays out the basics behind each pattern/color morph, which is great. Although, I cannot afford to jump right into some of the less common projects like bloods, leopards, etc. especially since I have a baby on the way this spring.

I did however manage to purchase an anery female and a 100% het Kahl albino, which I should receive later this week. I really owe so much to the folks on this forum, who have sparked my interest to expand into the various boa species. I have learned so much from simply reading this forum. My colllection now has more boas than colubrids.lol. I am done for a long long time with purchases with the exception of wanting a few more normal female ball pythons and solomon island ground boas.

Thanks again...I teach h.s. biology and I'm in my busiest time of year right now but when I get some time, I'll post some pics that will definitely be impressive. Too bad I won't be able to take credit for producing some of these fine animals just yet....in time, in time. I'm in this for the long run as a hobby I love.... no shortcuts.

Kenneth...my Nics are doing awesome but only 1 of the 4 will eat f/t for me. Three are still on live and the one f/t feeder refused a f/t today so I'll try live again next week. Now I also recv'd a pair of cay caulker boas from Scott at Amazon Reptile Center that are flippin awesome. Only catch...they are live eaters too.lol. This could be a problem eventually if I cannot ever switch them. For now, they're all so tiny still. Scott@ amazon said he has 3.1 cay caulkers still available as of tonight so if you're into the locale boas...you'd love these...like a natural anery. Anyway, I wish I had gotten more fh ball pythons when I had the chance...esp now that i have my 100% het pied male....I'd love to get a few lucky ladies for him now for later down the road. well, goodnite...
