IS MY BEARDIE TOO SMALL??

shahas Sep 25, 2004 07:13 PM

I just got a new bearded dragon. He's 5 and a half inches long and about two months old. Is my beardie too small? Thank-you!

If he is a p. vitticeps, yes, that is pretty small for one that is 2 months. If he is a p. henrylawsoni, that would be about normal for a 2 month old.

It's really hard to tell as crosses have been introduced to the market, especially in Pet Stores and also people are breeding very small dragons and creating even smaller ones.

You would have to know your dragons background and parentage to really know for sure.

You have to think about this too. Bearded dragons, like humans, come in all shapes, colors, and sizes. So just because your bearded dragon is small, doesn't mean that it's unhealthy. It could just be it had small parents and the small genes kicked in. You never know for sure.
