Hi there:
I currently own 2 eastern ribbon snakes. They live in a spacious 40-breeder with sphagnum, a rock water basin, an exo-terra cave, pea gravel, rocks, cork bark, grapewood branches, and lots of live plants in pots and vines with a backdrop. They love it in there.
Anyway, I am about to purchase a peninsula ribbon snake (Thamnophis sauritus sackenii) to introduce to the vivarium. The easterns, especially the male which I have had for 4 1/2 years now, bite repeatedly all the time, acting much like racers do.
I kept a Western ribbon who was EXTREMELY gentle, and acted like a corn snake, letting me place him on the floor, handle him and even take him for walks!
I was just wondering what the peninsula's temperament has been like for those of you who keep these beautiful serpents. Arew they overall docile as compared to other Thamnophis?
