New Hognose owner!

SalS Sep 25, 2004 09:34 PM

I finally got not one, but TWO Eastern Hognose snakes! The redder one is a male and the other one if female. The mother was mostly melanistic with some orange behind her head. These two are hatchlings (19 Sep) and haven't eaten yet, but some of thier siblings have.

Awesome snkaes...but those wood chips scare me. And this is coming from a non-anal type guy. Please do not attempt to feed them in that substrate. One right (wrong) sized piece could seriously impact their intestines. Once again, just my 1.5 cents. Good luck and enjoy your snakes!

ps...tuna scenting is your friend

Don't worry, they are fed in a deli cup. They have also been separated too. I put them together just for the picture.

Tuna juice...I'll have to try that! Thanks. My Barking tree frog scent didn't work. (All I had at the time)

I have had success with a gray treefrog.

Did they come from Richard Evans?

The mother was wild caught and gravid. After she dropped the eggs, she was released.
