Bypass Track and glass doors

purduecg Sep 25, 2004 10:01 PM

Well, I finally just did it and got most of my new cage finished today. Structurally is is pretty much done.

My question is this. How does the plastic track for the bypass class panes on the front of the cage attack to the cage? Is there a lip that goes over the front and back of the surface you are putting the track on? If so, how large is this overhang?

I think I put the false ceiling too low, and it will get in the way of the track, but the only place I can apparently get the track isn't open until MOnday and I would really like to paint the cage tomorrow.

Thanks for your help, I will post pictures of my progress tomorrow regardless.

I found glass track at a couple of places while I lived in Indiana. There was a wood working store out near the mall in northern Indy and then there was a Do It Best or similar store. Wish I could remember more detail.

Regardless, I use liquid nails to attach the track directly do the upper and lower lips of the cage. No groove, recessed area, etc.

Maybe this picture will help.

Hey Chris,

I really like that cage I remember when you first made it. One little touch you could add is 1" door stop to cover the seam and the track. I know it's nit picky but I just can't help myself it's the finsih carpenter in me. There is also a double profile door stop used on french doors that would look even nicer.

Hope this helps.
