Soft lighting for soft colors...?

wetceal Sep 25, 2004 11:53 PM

I tried something a little different today. I really wanted to try to capture some of the gorgeous coloration that is coming in on my Coral Albino Boa. I took her outside and was just admiring her in natural sunlight when I noticed how much nicer she looked outside. So I tried snapping some head shots of her in the shade with my flash dialed down to almost nothing. I think they came out fairly well so I'm going to mess around with it some more and hopefully find a method that will do this girl justice!!

Let me know what you think...

Thanks for looking,
Celia

Shade is great for getting natural colors, but Im sure CE would agree with me here. NOTHING BEATS A HAZY DAY. Next time you have one of thoose days where you dont know why you even woke up, the sun obviously hasnt decided to join you...grab your camera and some snakes. Just a hint of sunlight and the pictures are amazing. Make sure to do the light justice and pick a appealing background.

Again beautiful snake.

You take great photos Celia, when you get everything figured out you think you could give me a crash course?!

It was great meeting you and Sean in Daytona... next show we'll have to grab a few drinks.

Thanks for sharing

Is something along those lines. You can also use a peice of white paper, white paper towl, or white cloth to dampen your flash even more.. Try on a cloudy day as well.. Usually works even better..

Tom produces some amazing, killer animals! I am SO happy I picked this girl up from him at the Daytona Expo. I can not believe how much and how fast the color is coming in on her! I will definitely be getting some more animals from Tom in the future!

Thanks,
Celia
