Does anyone know the life-cycle of worms that infest snakes. I had two neonate garters that I put outdoors in an open-topped container to test the effects of sun and fresh air. Later they both developed lumps under their skin and eventually small, wiry red worms came out. The snakes lived, but I'm keeping them segregated until I find out if they can still transmit the parasites. They had the same food as their siblings, could the worms have been transmitted by bird droppings?, insects?, soil? Thanks for any insights.
