can anybody answer a newbie question? would a waterfall in my golden tegus' tank be helpful for them? make their standard of living better? or are they more for display? the guy at my local pet store says i should buy one, but is this so he can increase his sales. what do you guys think?

i know this sounds silly but i want to make them as happy as possible, i really love em both!!

I'd say it just for display...plus there a real hassle to clean

They help to increase humidity. For the ropical tegus it could be helpful

I had one for my Frill cage and it was a giant pain. Crix clog the pump and need to be cleaned and the water has to be changed out regularly (not an easy task). Worst of all, my frills liked the water and would lay in the waterfall. The water would run over them and since they are bigger than the waterfall, the water would run over their back and flood the cage repeatedly.
Don't waste your money. Put a water bowl in on the hot side of the tank and mist often to keep humidity up. If you want something that looks cool, put a mister in on a timer. it gives a nice fog effect.

thanks for advice. i had actually already bought the waterfall, but the pet shop guy has said he will exchange it for a fogger.

I have a fogger for my CWD, much better choice
