hi i was at a reptile show today and i saw this frog! pretty cool looking, anyways this lady was selling them for $15! so i bought one! my question is is the care pretty much the same as a pacman frog? because i have had a pacman for the last year and a half. also is the african bullfrog the same as a pixie? and i have read there is two types of pixies, how can i tell which one is mine? sorry for all the questions, just think this little guy is cool! oh yeah do they prefer a tank with just water that is halfway up their belly, but not above their head with fake plants in there for coverage or would moss and dirt be better with a water bowl? sorry for long post any info is appreciated! thnx

I am not aware of the exact caretaking of one of those. All I can tell you is that you can read up on these things on the internet before someone who knows replies here.

hopefully the lady told you how much they eat...care is similar to the pacman...the cage should be all soil with a large water dish for them to soak in (and usually deficate)...keep the temp in the upper 70's to low 80's...the soil is kept dry...a young pixie can be fed every other day...12-15 appropriate size insects should do it...

they grow very fast...mine could fit on a 50 cent piece about 3 months ago...now he is about 4 inches long and wide...he eats every 2-3 days...it will take down about 12 roaches, 2 crickets and a superworm

i've also given him nightcrawlers and full grown horn worms

my girlfriend has one, its pretty cool. eats like a champ. can grow to be about 5 pounds. hope your ready. she has it in a 3o gal with that coconut stuff , its like dirt, and a big water dish, and they do defficate in it. most of the time it is burrowed unless its hungry thewn it comes out to munch on some grindins. good luck
