let me first tell you that breeding crickets is great if you need pinheads for something like dart frogs, mantids, baby reptiles etc...but is not so great if you plan on raising crickets to adult size...the mortality rate is very high and the yield is low unless your going to do it on a very large scale...
you'll need a few dozen crickets
plastic tupperware container about 4 inches deep and a lid
fertilizer free peat moss
cut a hole large enough for the crickets to fit thru in the lid of the tupperware container...add dampned peat moss...make sure the crickets have a way to get to the top of the container...leave the container in for 24-48 hours..the crickets will lay tons of eggs in it
remove the container and keep it in in the low to mid 80s...they will hatch in about 10 days or so depending on temp
good luck
If you put a bunch of adult crickets in a humid (but not sopping wet) substrate (coconut fiber works great), then chances are they will breed for you. I have done this before with great results. The key is to provide enough food so that the crix do not start eating one another to survive (this would definately hamper your breeding effort, hehe.) I kept them in a gallon-ish sized critter keeper, and fed them Fluker cricket feed.
I believe it is the female cricket, that has the long sticklike thing protruding from the tail end. As long as there's one or more of these big mommas in there, you should have success.
