I still have MD Eastern's with your name on them. None have eaten. I am pinky pumping them now - all hatched at 6 to 9 grams each and they all weigh 15 to 18 grams now... but they all still refuse pinkies (they are over 3 months old now).

If none have eaten by November 15 they are going down for the winter. They will have plenty of fat reserves and maybe by Spring '05 I can get them going. It is very strange because both parents are total pigs...

I've got a litter? of 9 baby garters that popped out of a female I grabbed for photos. I don't have any desire to keep garters so if you need some to get a meal into your kings let me know. If not I'll probably freeze them for next year.

I talked with Ted Thompson at the MARS and he said that he sometimes feeds young snakes or lizards to troublesome/non-feeding king neonates and after getting a meal (any meal) into them they feed very well on pinks.

Bob, Please - YES.

I am in Montgomery County every day and could pick them up from you at night or during the day if you leave them on your porch/ garage/ back yard.

Please email me and we can coordinate.

THANK YOU.

For 2005 I have ready to go:

3.3 Palm Beach County Florida Kings
1.1 Columbia County, FL Eastern Kings

I'm going to hold back the nicest offspring from the above snakes.

For 2006 I should be producing albino eastern kingsnake hets, from my albino bred to my nice S. GA Female (produced by Kevin Enge), any other females I get, and possibly my Columbia County, FL female. Once those grow up, I should be producing a good number of albino easterns.

I've also got Lavender Albino and Het Hypo Brook's kings, Goini, Pinellas Kings, and other stuff in the works, but I'm not ready to predict what I'll be doing as far as breeding those. Of course I'll probably acquire more stuff between now and then...

crimsonking Sep 27, 2004 09:55 PM

"Of course I'll probably acquire more stuff between now and then..."
..and maybe sell off a pair or so....
:Mark

foxturtle Sep 28, 2004 12:51 PM

...but apparently they forgot how to breed. I could a few High-Orange FL Kings, as well.

crimsonking Sep 28, 2004 08:08 PM

I think their keeper forgot how to keep snakes. I must've screwed up all over since most of my FL kings didn't lay. I will not screw up next year. And you can have 1st pick if you want. After a year off, I bet the mahogany female does her best yet.
Any field herpin' on the horizon? Going to the show this weekend?
:Mark

foxturtle Sep 29, 2004 10:45 AM

I haven't done much herping recently... well, haven't found anthing other than the common turtles. Plenty of red anoles...

I should be at the show this weekend if all goes according to plan. You going to be selling?

BlueKing Sep 27, 2004 08:48 PM

Well that's one. Would love to breed my 75" male goini if I can find a decent sized female sometime this year.
But my main breeding goal would be large size and wide bands. And skinny super clean white bands that seem to encircle the entire animal.
Another one is to have a "speckled" Eastern King, if you know what I mean - an eastern banded King with lots of white speckles almost like an OBK , but not quite. . .My female from Lake city, Fl. locale looks that way.

I have a lot of double hets that i am not sure what they will produce.

Peanut Butter X axanthic brooksi= ?
T-albino X sulfer lavender albino ?

The sulfer lav's are my favorite at this time. I like them so much I am holding onto all of them. They are the reddest brooksi there is. I also produced sulver snows and I am exited about how different they are turning out from the regular snows. I plan to bred a male sulfer lav to a extreme red lav from steve osborne in '05 but I don't think that will be much of an improvement.

Then I have a patternless side hypo female that i will be probably be doing a breeding project with Don Soderberg as he has the only male patternless side hypo. Not sure if this is a whitesided or not but the breeding will tell the story on those.

I also have a few secret projects that I am sworn not to reveal at this time

sorry

Ecosense Sep 28, 2004 07:45 AM

2005
1.2 Albino male eastern x het females
1.1 MD easterns (if I can get a few more inches on the female, she's 37.6" now and I'd like to get her to 40"

About 2007

Peanutbutter x NE axanthic south Florida kingsnakes
Peanutbutter x het peanutbutter south Florida kingsnakes
Hypo Hondurans

I realize this isn't as extensive as Peter's list, but hey we all start somewhere. Speaking of Peter, I have got to get over to see those OBX's.

Almost 38" is a fine size to breed. Keep in mind these are northerly Easterns and they dont get as large. Ive talked to a few guys who commonly find 36" females full of eggs. I think Howie Sherman was the one who told me that from his hunts in Virginia. My female Burlington is around the same size and she is going to get bred this coming season.

cooler and less humid she is eating like a voracous monster. I gave her 4 mice plus 2 left overs and they were all gone in about an hour . I love these snakes.

Is their any reduction in overall length from breeding females vs. waiting another year? I don't necessarily need extra cash (though I wouldn't turn it down) so I'm thinking about feeding her all winter. Either way, when I breed the MD pair Keith, you are on the top of the list.

Bob Bull

Keith Hillson Sep 28, 2004 09:56 AM

No 3 months of brumation wont affect her growth hardly at all. Look at how much she has grown in the last 3 months. What would that be ?

I'm not sure of her length when you shipped her. Gorgeous clean white lines and her overall pattern is a perfect match for the male. He shed last night so I'll serpwidgit him tonight. I'm quessing that he's near his maximum.
