small snakes, large cage question

buffysmom Sep 26, 2004 11:48 PM

I have just finished constructing a large cabinet-type cage to house my 4 snakes & 1 blue tongue skink. Each cage is about 4'L x2'w x 1'h. My question is: 1 corn is a yearling & is about 2' long & 1 hog island is about 8 weeks old & about 20" long. I'm thinking they're too small to be in such large cages, as it may make them feel quite insecure. Is this true, or should I go ahead & move them in? (I don't want to split one cage in 1/2, I'll just move them from their current 10 gals to the old 20Ls that the other snakes are moving out of until they're bigger, if people advise that they're too small now).
