Sexing 9ft Green burmese..

Jbuggs20 Sep 27, 2004 01:02 AM

I need info on how to tell between male and female. on a 9ft burm. I am very knowledgable when it comes to everything but probing snakes, i am totally against it. I can useally estimate sex on smaller snakes by tail length and width the green burm is probably close to 2 yrs old not too fat. Mail me at Jas1234321@aol.com if you dont want to post because i rarely check the forums..

Probably the best way without probing would be to check for spurs. Just on the sides of the cloaca. If they are decent sized, its probably a male, and if they are either super tiny or not even noticeable, its probably a female.

I have seen males with only one spur, with two small spurs, and on one occasion, with no spurs. Unless it has two large spurs, you should probably have it probed. Careful probing by someone experienced is not a problem for the snake. Good luck.
