Clear looking patch of scales??

claymore Sep 27, 2004 11:09 AM

I just got into bearded dragons about a month ago. I have 2 bearded dragons. 1 male 2yrs old & a young female a little over a year old. Both are eating and seem healthy except for the patch on my male's back is worrying me. I noticed that my 2 year old male Beardie had developed clear/whitish dime sized patch on his back earlier this week. I took a close look at it and it does not seem like a fungus or mold. It just looks like some of his scales have changed or lost its color. Any ideas on what this could be? Should I be worried or not?

Picture would help but it sounds to me like he's going to shed.

Hades and Draco both get clear patches when they're shedding because the old skin is detached from the new skin, and there's space in between the shed and skin so it looks like nothings there.

But if you could snap a pic and post it that would help everyone out in determining if it is shed or not.

That looks like bite marks or possibly some skin condition, or fungus.

You may want to consider a trip to a Vet.

What kind of hides or caves does Lenny have or is there anything in the tank that he is rubbing his back on?

This looks like a skin/scale irritation, I would need to see a closer up picture to.... anyway you can get a real close one so I can see the actual scales?

Rubbings effect the scales different that a fungus or a bacterial infection does.

Actually Lenny is shedding big time on his back right now, But I am planning on a trip to the vet anyway. He is still eating & acting the same & has been rubbing against the rocks in the cage alot.

Thanks
Lance
