Do I need to remove males and shorten the photoperiod for 3 months or not? I have read many different things and quite frankly no one here that I know by reputation will respond to me please help. Thanks, Mark

Remove males from what and photo period? What are you talking about?
If you mean like breeding then I have no clue I don't breed.

A photo peroid isn't needed for breeding. Also if you're keeping a male with a female I would seperate them asap. A male really stresses the female because they (males) are constantly trying to breed. Next breeding season you can introduce the female to the male for like a day and then seperate them. Hope this helps.

See above post
What is your point? We're trying to help. You need to seperate males. It's your decision on how long to cool them for. I don't cool them at all.

Who are you refering to as an experienced breeder? The ones that sponsor this forum don't post on here anymore. Whether you shorten the photoperiod or not won't affect the health of your leos so its not that big of a deal. If you want to breed them then just do whatever so that they'll breed.
If you're having problems breeding it may not be the photoperiod that's causing it.
Remove the male. Photoperiod doesn't have much (if any) effect on breeding behavior. Cooling the temps also doesn't do much. Feel free to contact one of the "experienced breeders" you speak of...I have only been doing this for about 10 years.

That is just the advice I needed from someone with experience. I was referring to forum moderators or sponsors for help, but I really appreciate yours. Thanks, Mark Miller
You're welcome. Even though we aren't sponsers or moderators doesn't mean we don't have any experience. Just saying because there can only be a small amount of sponsers and moderators but there are ALOT of people you know their stuff on this forum.
No hard feelings. Good luck.
