Luna's new colors...

lele Sep 27, 2004 02:48 PM

...OK, most folks don't think of female veiled as being the most brilliantly colored but this is Luna's first shed in months and her blues are just lovely! (says her proud Mom

and this one doesn't show her colors as much but just reminds me of how damn cute she is!

I've always thought that veileds (both male and female) are beautiful! The turquoise is really stunning up close.

I'm glad to see her looking so well!! i've always been partial to female veiled myself I was worried about her with all of her egg problems
Orion is doing really well. I finished her new cage, and have it set up in a corner along one wall facing the other, but about 3 feet away. I have her trees from her old cage in the corner that wouldn't fit in her cage, and can open the door and create a little cham corner for her to roam around when i'm home. She's been bright pink ever since i got her in there, she loves it. I went a little crazy on plants... i bought a HUGE bromelaid, and a small hibiscus tree to go with the 3 palm things nad her climbing pothos. The cage bottom is all plants, i love it (and so does she).
Her appearanc eisn't as nice as lunas though... a few days before i swithced cages she managed to get between the mesh layer and the screen in the roof of her cage, and burnt her crest by her eyes (she is OBSESSED with the roof of her encloures, she likes things HOT I guess. If i dont keep her basking spot around 100 she just sits on the roof all day). Poor thing. and she ALSo managed to get between the mesh and the screen on the side (she found a hole by a shelf, and dispite my best efforts always squeezed in) so her "spikes" are all worn down her back. I swear, between that and her burnt off tail from her surgery people must think i beat her or something!!! crazy girl.
Anyway, that was long, i haven't gotten to update you for a while, and I"m so excited about her new cage. hopefully i can scam my friends digi cam for a bit and get some pics for you and everyone.
Luna is SO pretty!! she looks like she's smiling for the camera!

I'd be interested to see her set up...can't quite get the mesh/screen image and how she gets between.

Luna is only obsessed with the top (inside) of her cage when she is really antsy to come out, which, I have learned is usually when she is getting ready to lay! Now she will come out sometimes. On days I will be here I open her door and hang the "lead" rope to her jungle gym. Yesterday and today she has chosen to come out. First I blast her cage with the humidifier for an hour or so and get the heat up to help with this shed, then she can come out (I only do the humidifier thing for the shedding).

Her smile is cute, huh? Around the time she first showed signs of being receptive (last December) her mouth began to remain open a little, I always thought it was due to the force feeding I had to do, but Stitch, her brother in FL, holds his mouth the same way! Isn't that sweet? They are twins (though when I met Stitch at Sonia's last year he was not very sweet at all - typical teenage boy cham

I think veileds have neat patterns with all their little spots and tiny markings.

Luna looks like she has a little face on her lower jaw. Below her eye their is a perfect circle of dots, with 3 dots inside it. 2 for eyes and 1 for a nose. haha.

I always thought her little circles were cool but I had not noticed the "face"!! Thanks!
