Bearded won't eat salad

alg Feb 07, 2003 02:02 PM

When I got my bearded he ate his salads like a champ. Now he just turns away from it unless perhaps there is a worm in the bowl and then if he eats the salad it is accidental. Help...Any advice.

Mine do that if they get too spoiled. I believe it's the worms. Mine would eat salad then crickets...and then I got waxies. I cut back on the worms and mainly give crickets now, but every now and then, give them worms. They eat all of their salad some days and other days don't touch it. If you feed a lot of worms, I would cut back and feed only once in a while. Hope this helps.
By the way, are you making his salad different? Sometimes the same old greens get boring and sometimes they won't like the new stuff. Mine hate collard greens, but love mustards. Good luck!

Spring Greens or Mediterannean salad mixes from your local vegetable department are very tasty too... the Med salad includes endive, radishio, and many others on Melissa Kaplan's site.

I only started giving him some worms in his salad bowl to get him to maybe taste a piece of green. I tried the old if you don't eat your salad then I'm not giving you crickets (this is pre-worms) and it lasted for about 3 days before I caved in and I've given him all kinds of different green one at a time and mixed.....I'm starting to believe he will never eat greens....
