Shedding problem!! HELP!!

robert Sep 27, 2004 06:52 PM

Setup: Rubbermaid container, 2 pvc branches, 2 small water bowls, newspaper substrate, between 65% and 85% humidty and between 78* and 85*

Problem: Eats great but sheds bad all the time! I try to manually shed him/her but he/she is still small so I don't want to injure him/her

Should I put mulch in as substrate so he/she has something rough to rub against? Should I put some pieces of rough wood in the cage?

Any and all suggestions and comments will be greatly appreciated...

Thanks alot,
Robert Remendowski

Some are just bad shedders. One of mine always sheds bad except for the head. I usually have 82% humidity but in shed cycles I usually don't allow too much of a drying oiut period. If its a baby its best to keep him moist most of the day(instead of allowing a drying period). If its bad you can put him in a deli cup with wet balled up paper towels.

Put the snake in a plastic shoe box containing a decent amount of damp green moss and pull the perch. The snake's skin will hydrate in the vapor rich environment. By night the snake is likely to prowl about through the moss and the shed will come off.

Let us know how hit goes.
