Here are photos of Tom our Box Turtle and Tina a new acquisition that we aren’t sure if she’s a she? Along with their photo are two photos of each ones tail.
Tom seem to think that Tinas a female as he has attempted to mate with her.
If she were a male would she he been aggressive back?
What do you think?
Thank you very much

they both look male to me, the mating you see is probly territorial fighting or domonance fighting.

I think male and female based on the tails - and Tom seems to have the longer hind legs of a male. Does his plastron seem more indented than Tina's?

Either way, if you only have these two, you might consider seperating them, or at the very least adding more visual cover and hiding space. A lone female can be harrassed eventually to death by a male in too small an enclosure without enough cover and hiding areas.

They both look like males to me. I can't see Tina's back claws. Are they similar to Tim? Tina may allow Tim to get on her/his back for now since it is still "shell shocked" from the new enviroment, but if it is a male, it will fight back once he get his conditioning back. People often say their males all get along but in some cases it's because their animals are not in peak condition and therefore won't/can't fight. Regardless, Tina is a beautiful turtle. Best of luck!
