Pacman Frog Croaking

confusedme Sep 27, 2004 08:48 PM

Can anyone tell me how a pacman sounds when they croak? I thought I heard mine sounding like a duck once but it did that while I was half asleep.

That would be your frog croaking. Some people say it sounds like a duck, some say like a cow, some say like a dog. Whatever you think it sounds like, it would be your frog.

Thanks, now my frog won't stop croaking and waking me up at night. Sounds a lot like a duck.

My male sounded kinda like a short trilling sound. It was such a short call, though, and he only did it once that I heard.
My female will emit a small squeak if you disturb her or unbury her frrom her usual burial spot for tank cleaning.

How big do they have to be before they start croaking? Is there any other way to tell if they are male or female?

Size is not an issue with croaking. It is based on the age usually, especially since males can be as small as 2 to 2.5 inches when full grown. Mine usually started around a year of age, but it really depends on the frog and its conditions. According to what I have read or others have posted, females do have a response call. The chirp noise that ginevive addressed is more a reaction where the frog expels air in its body.
