They are moving to my first choice place in cage buying.

Paul,
I have been looking at Moonstruck also. Are the vents that I can see in the picture the only ventilation, or is there space around the door also? Do you have to cover the back vents? One more question, is the heating adequate as the cage comes? I will be using thermostats, but just wondering. One more question....are those the 36" x 24" x 12"?

P.S. those hoggs are fabulous.

Linda

except for the hogg comment! I actually have been looking at Barrs too. Are you using heat tape?

Linda

Sorry about that.

re:BARRS cages.. the back vents are routered and you do not need to cover them.. well I don't using cypress mulch bedding... if I don't dry it enough before using the cages are fogged up for quite a while... I heat with a 12" panel of flexwatt on a helix controller.. heats the cage fine...

re: hogs.. thanks.. it was a good year for them here... have some exciting projects in the works for them...

I have mine in Moonstruck cages. Plastic caging is great for maintaining humidity and super easy to clean. I love Boaphiles as well (just a little more upscale). I haven't used the Animal Plastics cages, but the rack I got (though too small for BRBs) works great for small to mid sized Colubrids.
Here're the Boaphile and the 3 Moonstruck's .

And one of the critter's themselves...

Paul's questions were actually meant for you...I am often confused. I got the Barrs and Moonstruck cages mixed up in my mind. I originally wanted Boaphiles, but have been been researching and found others I also like.

The Moonstruck only vent around the door (same as Boaphiles), and that seems to work well. The Moonstruck come with under cage flexwatt that you connect yourself, which if I can do it, anyone can! The heat works fine (I've got the stack on a Ranco thermostat). The Moonstrucks are each 36" long by 24" deep by 12" high. They do have a 4" cage as well that I'll probably move up to in a couple of years. I use a heavy paper liner vs mulch for substrate because it is so easy to clean. The snakes have a humid hide in the cage, which they use as needed and will also soak occasionally at night. I prefer the black caging to white because I've seen some white cages that stained with time. Boaphile is still my favorite all around, but the Moonstruck were a little more in my budget.
Hope that answered your questions!

Lora
