Dark lines on Dragons Belly

stevie16 Sep 27, 2004 10:13 PM

I just go a new bearded dragon and have had him for three days. He has dark lines on his belly and I've read this is a sign of stress. He eats really good and all the temps are perfect. Do you think that he's just getting used to his new house (20 gallon)or what? He is also around a foot long any ideas to how old he might be?

Most likely just acclimation stress.. I know when I adopted my female she was like that for months.. how dark are they?
Mine still have lines just after a long day at a exhibit.. but they fade away soon.. my pair both have faint grey lines near all the time, though they're hardly visible..

I wouldn't worry much about it unless you see other symptoms of stress like becoming listless.. hard to move, no interest in prey, dark colors.. etc

It could be an indicator of insufficient light. Try adding another fluorescent strip.

Dragons can't get too much light. "as long as you don't go over the temps"

If you are seeing the belly circles, you are not seeing full color potential either.
