just had a question about jungles

micahdenton Sep 27, 2004 11:50 PM

ok, I've seen a number of really nice jungle like patterns out there but they just dont have the euro color to them. I've also noticed that some true jungles have the color but not the pattern. So I got to thinking about this and I was woundering if the true jungles ever throw the pattern with out the color. I know that there are a number of pastel lines overseas that are as nice if not better then the us blood lines. could it be that euro jungles are really pastel and aberrant genes working to together to give us the true jungles. so if you took say a cagle (just for example, don't get mad) and a pastel dream and crossed them could you get some thing close if not the same as a euro jungle. I'm wrong I'm sure but I want to now what everbody else thinks please feel free to ripe me apart if you think I'm way off base

only problem is unless cagle has proved his rather normal abberants to be compatiable with the swedish line he doesnt have jungles just abberant boas that could still be a genetic thing i guess if proved out. But to my knowledge the "american jungle" were or have not been nothing proved with them other then the fact he called them American Jungles and sold them for HIGH dollar amounts not even knowing that they were genetic or not . Now maybe they will prove to be abberants and maybe if the people that paid $$$$ for them are lucky they MIGHT be compatiable with the swedish line of jungles .But with out doing the homework he rode the coat tails of a already coined name to demand higher dollars for his animals. How would you feel if you paid $1200-$1500 for a boa that after the first breeding doesnt produce the likeness of itself and then the second breeding doesnt produce the likeness of itself again and you paid that good money and wasted 5-6 yrs breeding a high dollar normal?Or if bred to a swedish line Jungle you only get the blod of the swedish jungle .. .you still have jungles but should have come out with a "super form" if my understanding of the Jungle genetics is online. Im no expert so maybe someone who knows them better could shed light on that dark book .
And i aint gonna jump ya for asking a question i was alyas told the only dumb question is one that doesnt get asked ... take care and good luck if you have one

thanks for the input, I'd be pissed if I spent the time (and money but the time is the one thing that would piss me off the most)but if you proved a aberravent pattern over a number years and then crossed a proven aberravent with a proven pastel would resamble true jungle (would youget the same kind of price)

You can ask anything you want for any animal you have. Proven genetic lines demand a higher price. It doesn't have to look exactly like a jungle to get a high price if you take the time to prove it out, and it is genetic. You can have an animal that looks identical to the Jungles that wont sell for 200 bucks sometimes because it isnt proven. On the other hand, you can take a slightly more abberant than normal animal from a proven line and sell it for much more than the high abberancy generic.

presently i have some import stripers im hoping prove out and have a pastel female for the male and a albino male for the girl when the time is right . Now unless you were able to prove the proven abberents compatiable with the swedish line you couldnt morally call them Jungles. You could however name them you own thing , if the proved to be compatiable with the jungle then you would have the same bloodline somewhere in the jungle if not you have something new and IMO copuld call it what you like. Now as to the price i would think something that carries the striped or abberant genetics and is proven coud be a valuable snake for many reason of the new morphs and such. So there for could feasably bring in good money as things like a pastel genetically striped snake bred into albinos and sunglows wouldthen produce what IMO i think could be called your own line of those aswell that i might be wrong on but not sure maybe someone could enlighten me on that aswell ?
