I see pinkie presses being sold so you can forcefeed a snake. What IU don't know is whether you actually put a pinkie in them and mash them into pulp to push into the snake. So, what do you do with a pinkie press?

It is like a syringe. The "needle" is metal with a blunt/rounded tip so as not to injure your snake's esophagus. You simply place a thawed pinkie in the syringe. When you depress the plunger it forces the pinkie through a small "cutter" orifice(s) which turns it into a puree. After use you need to clean it real well. The pinkies skin will bunch up and clog the orifice at the base of the tube.
Do not put a living pinkie in it. That would be severe cruelty that no living thing should be subjected to, even if it is quick. Reading some of the posts in these forums I have no doubt there are folks who would get off on doing that. (had to vent a bit)

Actually, the best thing to use is frozen/thawed pinkies because the tissue will be somewhat macerated and will press through the cutter orifices easier. The best pinkie presses are the "professional" type that works like a caulking gun.
