Wierd DHL Shipping Question

I called DHL and asked what time i needed to get my turtles there to arrive for next day 3pm delivery and the lady told me that I can't even ship them until I create a new account and wait a 7 day grace period! For packages over a pound she said. Is this right and normal? I scowered the website to verify since it didn't seem right and couldn't find anything stating this. I know sometimes new employees pass out incorrect info so I'm just asking to make sure. What really makes me actually think she is wrong is that on DhL's main page it has a little banner thing saying "New to DHL? Ship Now! No signup or registration required."

I don't know about setting up a new account - lately I've been paying up front with a check at the time of shipping - it's been costing about $5-10 less per shipment that way! If you pay up front, you don't have to have an account.
