Hi, My freind bought a spur of the moment lizard a couple weeks ago. The guy at the pet store said that it could go in te enclosure with his bearded dragons, big mistake teh poor little thing got his tail ate off. NOw my freind doesn't want this little guy so I am adopting him, I think he is a desert critter, the people at the pet store said he was a leopard lizard. I've been looking at pictures of leopard swifts and he looks a quite a bit like those but i'm not sure. has anyone ever bought a leopard lizard at a pet store. thanks for the help.
ps. Ive named him spaz he loves to jump and then flatten. hes wickedly cute.

Leopard Lizards are related to collard lizards. Their care is pretty similar to a beardies but they definately shouldnt be kept together. Leopard Lizards should have plenty of room to run and the smallest tank they should be kept in for long amounts of time is probably like a 40L. They like a nice hot basking spot around 95, full spectrum lighting is important too, just like the beardie, plenty of rocks or other sturdy climbing decorations, access to fresh water and i think they are carnivorous. Eating crickets and such.

There are a few different types of leopard lizards but generally they are streamlined lizards with a sandy-brown background color and small brownish dots on their backs. They have a very long tapering tail (although yours might not anymore!)

Definately do some more reasearch, but that should get you started. Good luck with your new buddy.
