My usualy tame and easly handled Tangerine Hondo. escaped from his cage 2 weeks ago and was out and about for the night before being found and put back in the morning. Now he is ill tempered and likes to bite and strike.......even when I am just walking by to do a spot check of snake inventory and cage condition. He was captive breed from captive breed parents. Could his natural insticts have kicked in and caused this behavior. I am trying to handle him as often as possible to reintroduce him to a civilized society. Any thoughts? Anyone?

I took a captive bred corn from a long line of captive bred corns, set him down on the lawn and he went crazy, rattling his tail and striking at me like he'd been wild all his life. He was out for 5 minutes and it took 2 weeks to get him calmed back down. This made me re-think my entire veiw on whether cb snakes know they are missing something out there in the wild. Instincts are a powerful thing.
