8 cups potato flakes
1 cup brewers yeast
1 cup superfine sugar

mix all together, and add 1/4 cup water, 1/4 cup vinegar to 1/3 cup dry mixed media, add a sprinkle of active yeast on top, add excelsior and flies, cover.

What's exelsior? Also, when you say potato flakes, I'm assuming that's cereal, right?

Or just order the kits with deli cups and media from saurian.net. Follow directions, springle it with Baker's yeast, add the excelsior for pupating (not essential, but a good enhancer) and voila! You have fruit flies galore. It sure beats having to cook for the fruit flies as well as the husband and kids.

This is a guy I have been dealing with for several years now and he is the best. You will love the amount of flies produced with his media. If you get cultures they are very productive, and loaded with flies when they arrive. Keep up the great work Randy............ http://www.fruitflyspecialties.com/

Their media is great, and you don't need to add vinegar--they already have a mold inhibitor! Awesome frogs, too.
