i got home today and the second i open the door i got on a wiff of conda poo u all no the smell of it. so i go over to annies cage when i notice something odd. he was not in his cage and poped the locks off his cage.(i use 4 locks and over 10 pounds of rocks to hold the lid down) my first thought was "o great i got a 6 foot conda loose" my second thought was "he is really stronge" it took me about 2-3 mintues to find him its not hard to find a 6 foot conda after u clean to find a 3 foot conda. he was in my closet where i keep my turtles. its bin raining and muggy all day and this makes Annie very excited and more active. at this very moment he is trying to get out agein but i added some more locks and some more rocks so he will not get out any time soon.

I have a male also, about the same size. For some reason, he has never tried to get out, EVER. He is very docile as well.

How old is yours?

If he does try...he will if you dont have a secure cage. Locks should be on all large or venomous snake cages. I wish I could buy all locking cages for my animals but for now I pick and choose what really CAN'T get out for safety sake.

I never said that I don't keep my anacondas cage secure.

Even if I didn't it wouldnt matter that much. The entire room is 100% snake proof, and temp acclimated so that Im not forced to acclimate each cage.

I also keep venomous for that matter. I prefer my own cages over bought ones, but they also are locked, if not double locked.

I was saying it was important. sounds like you have things in control. nice to hear there may be more responsible people in this hobby than the alternative.
