Blue Light?

JEFFREH Sep 28, 2004 05:03 PM

Ok, I never really considered this until my friend brought it up who wants a gecko ( anyone got a nice red or orange?). Well anyway, he wants to know if the blue lights are safe. Such as the one made by exo terra. He doesnt want something that can raise heat but he wants to be able to view the lizard at night. Any suggestions???

use a blacklight flourescent bulb.

But IMO the exo-terra bulbs are the best bang for the buck when it comes to heating and night time lighting.

the blue lights are for daylight, if you want to see them at night I would use either a black light or a low wattage red night bulb. depending on the size of the enclosure a low red bulb will not raise the heat enough to disturb the gecko, or you could just do what I do and use a flash light!!

Ok, I agree with you but I just want to double check to make sure we are talking about the same thing. It's not the floresant bulb, its called like night glow and it stimulates moonlight it said. I believe its made by exo terra (hagen). I'm just double checking. thanks
