LIGHTING CAN I USE A NORMAL SOFT WHITE BULB FOR EXTRA BRIGHTNESS

gunit Sep 28, 2004 05:59 PM

I have read that Uro's like it very bright and I was wondering if I could use a normal household bulb or if it has to be a special reptile bulb.
Thanks

i would just make sure you still have the reccommended heat gradient

gunit Sep 28, 2004 06:19 PM

yea I have tested it out and it maintains the same heat gradient as when I had a 75 watt basking light. It spreads the light better instead of focusing it. I wanted to make sure that it wouldn't harm him. I still have a 150 watt basking lamp on the hot side the soft white is in the middle and maintain 90-95. Thanks for your help.

what about uvb??

gunit Sep 28, 2004 08:30 PM

I have an 18" reptiglo 8%UVB flourescent. I included a picture of the setup. Since this picture I actually lowered the UVB lamp in the cage because it was too far away to be useful. I also sprinkle a vit. supplement with D3 every other or every other other time I feed him to make sure he gets enough D3
