Hi there everyone! I am mainly a Kingsnake guy, but I do have some cornsnakes as well. I decided to check around the area where I live, here in NC, and had quite an impressive evening. I found a large copperhead and three cornsnakes - all within 30 minutes! The cornsnakes were: One 3 foot very red male, a 4.5 foot red with brown background male, and a very unusual yellow 3.5 foot female corn! I have found many cornsnakes in my life in TX, NC, FL, GA, SC, LA, MS, and AL. But I have NEVER found a yellow one. This one has no red pigment whatsoever and has yellow body blotches and even brighter yellow blotches on its' sides. The ground color is a pale gray that fades to a darker gray on the posterior of the animal. The blotches are bordered by thick black kind of like an okeetee. How rare are these yellow corns in the wild? Based on my observations . . . well this is my first one. I know others have been found in the wild before, but I was just curious. I will be breeding her next spring to a nice red one.
Thank you for any input you may have,
Zee
