question about growth rate

greg woodie Jun 27, 2003 08:55 AM

i know Bulls get to be big snakes, but i'm wondering if i'm feeding my female too much. not too long ago, i upped her to 2 small mice a week. is this too much? i took measurements of all my snakes in late February and much to my surprise, this one has grown almost 10 inches!! i've heard females grow quickly, but is that normal? my girlfriend says i should cut back on her food. she's about 3.5 inches around her midbody. i appreciate any advice.

greg, she looks built but not overly so to me. start feeding her 3 mice a week and watch her put on about 2 more feet this summer. lol! i have an 02 holdback female here that is well over 4'....probably closer to five by now. she started eating about an hour out of the egg and has never looked back. she eats rats now. i suspect that feeding them that early produces big feeders [and growers] later......don't worry, that first couple of pinks were melted and gone long before her first shed. she sloughed it right off and came a beggin'..........;-]

I find myself going back to the picture of your snake a couple of times...there is something about it (maybe the coloration of the neck pattern) that appeals to me. Thanks for sharing!

you're very welcome! she was in the blue in these pictures, so she should really look nice after she sheds. i'll post pics as soon as she does.
