ok I keep hearing 10 gal per gecko, but if you have a rack system I hear people keep single leos in 15 16qt containers and breeding groups of 4 or 5 in 30qt containers why the differance?

the 10 gallon rule is if you're keeping them as pets, under optimal conditions, and want them to be handle-able. breeders are trying to maximize space economy & make a profit. i won't switch to racks because the animals end up being unused to seeing people, they are more skittish and easily startled. (in my opinion) personally, i go by the size and temperment of the gecko. i have four smaller females that get along well, so i have them in a 20 gallon Long, with lots of hides & hammocks and such. but i have two females that will not tolerate the presence of any other gecko, and so i have them in their own 10 gallons.

I agree with Marla about going with the size and temperament of the geckos. The 10 gallon per leo rule is too rigid.
