Mangrove Salt Marsh Watersnakes in my collection

PiersonH Sep 28, 2004 11:20 PM

I currently have seven Mangrove Salt Marsh Watersnakes (Nerodia clarkii compressicauda) from two different localities. The first three pictured are from Tampa Bay and were produced by Mark Kenderdine in 2003.

Dark phase male.

Light phase female. She has stayed very skinny despite an increased feeding regimen.

Light phase male

The next four animals are from Key West stock, John Decker lineage.

This is a holdback yearling I produced last year.

Sub-adult male black phase, cb 2002.

Sub-adult female black phase, cb 2002. I think this animal is gorgeous and even rivals the red phase animals in beauty.

Sub-adult female red phase, cb 2002.

I should have babies from the above trio next year if everything goes right.

OK, well it's no surprise to me since you're American and therefore closer to Wyatt Earp thus being faster on the trigger but just wait 'til I get out my scatter gun and plaster snake pics all over this forum!! They may not be pretty but they will somewhat resemble a snake, in water or something.
Of course this is just my opinion, but I think you have phenominal taste in snake colour/patterns (probably because I agree with you). That grey is reminiscent of the tesselata I mentioned in the above post, though her pattern is much more distinct.
All in all, there's nothing prettier than healthy snakes.

Amazing. Truly amazing. I really need to look into getting some at a point in my life when I can handle more animals. That female black phase knocked me off of my feet. So extremely beautiful. I will trade you a conlfuens for it Take it easy bro.
