Humidity question.... for new enthusiast

arlalane Sep 29, 2004 02:53 AM

I have been planning on getting a couple Leos for quite a while now... the only thing that still truly concerns me is that I live in a very humid climate where it is normally 80ish% humidity... even indoors. And I have aquariums in here too.. so that adds to the humidity in my room (where the leo's would be living) . Would special equipment be required? Or is there some trick of the trade to reduce the humidity within the enclosure? Or should i just stick to tropical species like house geckos? =) Thanks in advance,

Heather

leopard geckoes in the wild actually live in underground areas that have pretty high humidity. i would not be concerned at all. my vet actually tells me that i shouldn't have full screen tops on my geckoes' tanks (since i live in a very dry area). i would just make sure you use screen as a top, and you will be fine, so long as you clean a bit more often, to avoid any mildew, etc., problems.
