Any "tricks" to get a male in the mood LMAO

Genaroleon Sep 29, 2004 10:24 AM

For the most part, I do not cool my boas for breeding. There are a couple of adults that I have purchased, who the previous owned would cool them.. so I stick with the cycling on those.

Even though its a little early, I usally introduce my males around this time. I have 1 male (about 2 years old and this will be his first pairing)that did not seem interested in my female at all. For the first day he was on her, but after that (for the next two days) he was on the opposite end of the cage.

I tossed another one of my males in there, and he immediatly began to court (hes about 3 1/2 years old)and has been at it since I put him in.

I figure that its either too early in the season for the "stubborn" male and hes just not interested right now? Or maby hes just not mature?

I'm confused also, but my situation is backwards from yours. My two year old male is doing all the work and my 3 year old wants nothing to do with them. I guess the young guy is going to get more action than planned this year. Hopefully someone else out there can help us.
Take care,

You could always try placing the other male in the cage at the same time, for a little rivalry(use caution). You might also try putting a shed skin from the other male into the cage. The best bet though would be to video tape the other male courting the female and then play the video for the "shy" male....this always get me...err, I mean my snakes, in the mood! LOL...of course I am only kidding about the last method(or am I?) Best of luck. Take care
