Baby Ball & Sterilite Sizes

CJBianco Sep 29, 2004 11:23 AM

Wow! I received my Jason's Jungle Rack today and...wow! It's nice! I enthusiastically recommend these to anyone! And he's great with customer service (especially my constant unyeilding barrage of questions)! =)

Anyway, I just received a beautiful baby (189 grams) Reduced Pattern, and I was wondering which sized Sterilite container is best. Would he be more comfortable in one of the smaller containers (15QT) than in the larger (32QT) containers?

And at what size would they be ready for the larger containers? I've also got 400g, 300g, 300g, and 250g ball pythons.

Thanks for the wonderful advice!

Chris =)

I keep all my babies-yearlings in the 12 quarts personally. I've never had a problem with them being crowded and not once have i had one refuse to feed. I switch them to the 32 quarts at appr. 300-400 depending on whether or not they are great feeders. the larger ones that i keep in 12's are the not great feeders and really seem to like the security of the smaller enclosers. i've also had some babies in the past that could be kept in 41's and never miss a meal. so basically it all depends on the snake and your personal preference in my experience. just make sure the bins fit your rack before you buy them, lol. hope this helps some, Josh Hutto

REMEMBER YOU SAID THIS ;P

WHAT KINDA CONTRICTION IS THIS? FIRST YOU ' not once have i had one refuse to feed. ' THEN YOU HAVE 'not great feeders'.

WHICH ONE IS IT? GET YOUR STORY STRAIGHT. SHEESH.

first what i said is that i've never had one refuse in the 12's. second in my opinion is if they don't feed on a 4-7 day schedule it isn't a great feeder. all of my snakes feed on at least a 10 day schedule (and that is only 2 that are on a 10 day). third if you believe a 300 gram snake in a 12 quart is being cramped i hope you don't deal with the larger constrictors because i would hate to see what you would find appropriate for a 20 ft retic. and also remember under proper feeding a baby ball will be 300 grams in no time.

I knew exactly what he was saying, and if you think a 300-400 gram baby is cramped in a 12 quart container, try a 800-900 gram in a 12 quart container. Some Balls do much better in a tight cage without a hide, rather than a larger cage with a hide. Like was already said, some do good nomatter what size cage you keep them in, and some would rather be in a very tight cage (give em what they want).

THE ISSUE OF 'THEY NEVER MISS A MEAL' AND 'SOME EAT BETTER THAN OTHERS' HAS NOT BEEN ADDRESSED. THIS GUY KNOWS SOME ARE BETTER THAN OTHERS.

HOW?

BECAUSE SOME HAVE TO HAVE REFUSED OTHERWISE THEY'D ALL BE ON HIS FOUR DAY CYCLE. SO THE STATEMENT 'THEY NEVER MISS A MEAL' IS PATENTLY FALSE. THEY HAVE TO HAVE HAD MISSED MEALS. PERIOD. NUFF SAID.

THAT CALLS INTO QUESTION ALL OF HIS 'FACTS'

I NEVER QUESTIONED THE CROWDING ISSUE. NEVER. NEVER WILL.
