HELP!! Baby Corns STILL not eating

evers310 Sep 29, 2004 12:10 PM

Hi,

I posted a while back about our clutch of 15 baby Miami-phase corns not eating. The suggestion was to place each in a paper lunch bag with a newborn pinkey. This worked for 4 of them. The other 11 still have not eaten. It's been over 4 weeks now since they've hatched. What else can I do?

Thanks,

Jason

Here's a pic of them:

Jason,

My Pewter female took 12 weeks before she started to eat so you are still ok. Some tricks I have used this year that worked with none feeders:

- Boil a pinky untill it is white.
- Brain a pinky
- Pre kill a pinky
- Scent with anole
- Pinky parts (a cut off head for example)

But most of all as I said before, small ones need their privacy in order to develop an appetite. So house them in small dark warm boxes and they should get hungry.

Gereat, thanks again for the info. I'll try a few of those and see if it works.

I've been reading stuff on various forums about scenting with fish instead of the usual anoles. I have two non-feeders left, so as a long shot I tried them on defrosted pinkies that had been dunked in sunflower oil from a tin of tuna. One of them stuffed two pinkies straight down and has eaten reliably ever since! It didn't work for the other, but might be worth a go for you?

One person I read of had even succeeded by rubbing a defrosted pinkie on the inside of a fish finger ("fish stick" in the US?)! There must be a few variations of this trick left to try. Anyone have more fish-based experience or ideas?
